Oprah Winfrey’s new pup, Cocker Spaniel Sadie graces the cover of the June issue of “O” magazine; The Animal Issue!

Sadie’s getting cuter by the day, isn’t she?  That’s her on Oprah’s right shoulder, just like an angel!

After her bout of Parvo when she was just 11 weeks old, Sadie has made a full recovery!  Stay well, Sadie!

First Lady, Michelle Obama spoke to a group of congressional wives last week  and when asked about the new pupy, she said that “I love my Bo”. Awwwww……how sweet is that?

Now that Bo is firmly ensconced in the White House, the First Lady’s day she says starts just a little bit earlier; she’s up at 5:15 every morning walking the rambunctious puppy out on the South Lawn even though it had been agreed that daughters Sasha and Malia would do most of the work!  Now, isn’t that always the way?

Michelle describes Bo as “the most famous member of the family- Bo Obama”, and goes on to enthuse “I have to say, he’s the best puppy in the whole wide world. I love him to death. He’s so sweet!”.

Sounds like Sasha and Malia don’t need to worry about how Bo’s going to fit in with the family; he’s in like Flynn!  He’s sure a cutie, isn’t he?

President Barak Obama and his family have welcomed their new dog Bo to the White House and they’re showing him off around the grounds! AT LAST!

The 6-month-old Portuguese water dog made his debut Tuesday afternoon in front of reporters and photographers. And the Obamas even walked him over near the fence on the White House South Lawn.

Said the president: “He’s got star quality.”

First lady Michelle Obama did most of the walking, with Bo on a leash. But daughter Malia took a turn, too, as Bo took off running.

Awwww…I bet they’re all so excited; there’s nothing like a new pet in the house!

Vice President, Joe Biden bought Champion,  this adorable pedigreed German Shepard puppy from a Chester County breeder last December, 2008 and the breeder of the dog is so disillusioned now!

The woman who sold the puppy to the Bidens says that she felt “so honored” that out of all the breeders in the country, they chose her. But once the story got out, she was targeted mercilessly by people who think the Bidens should have opted for a shelter pup instead of a breeders’.

Since then, she’s been visited repeatedly, unannounced, by state inspectors, who walk around and snap photos, giving her no reason for the inspections. Ludicrous citations have resulted in her having to hire attorneys for the court hearings, PLUS she and the Vice-President have received death threats from animal activists!

We’ll preface this by saying that we are totally a shelter/rescue/adoption proponent.

But there is such a thing as RESPONSIBLE and ETHICAL dog breeding practices and these breeders LIVE and BREATHE for their dogs, only wanting to enhance the breed and find the perfect home for them.  Most humane people are against puppy-mills and irresponsible breeders, and the word IS getting out about pet-shop animal purchases.

The last I looked though, we live in America, and people should have the choice as to whether a shelter pup is the right choice for them. There’s nothing worse than taking in a homeless pet and then realizing it was not the right fit for you and your family and then returning it; it’s hard on the humans involved and it’s demoralizing for the pet.

And to give someone the benefit of a doubt; for all we know, Joe Biden’s next pet very well WILL be a rescue, but one thing we know for sure; it won’t be a dog from this breeder!

We have an update on Oprah Winfrey’s little cocker spaniel rescue pup Sadie, who had parvo just after Oprah brought her home and it’s WONDERFUL news! It looks like Sadie’s parvo nightmare is a fading memory.

Sadie is getting better every day and is growing up fast! Here’s the darling little girl looking like she’s ready to play during a photo shoot!

Such a happy development and encouraging news to anyone who has had or has, a dog going through the same situation. Congratulations to Oprah and all those involved with Sadie’s recovery and recuperation!

Sadie’s going to be one beautiful doggy~ another reason to never rule out adopting a dog from a shelter!
