Pop super star Justin Beiber is a big lover of dogs. When he was young (OK, younger) he and his dad would often visit animal shelters where he learned a strong appreciation for homeless dogs.
That might be what led him to more recently adopt a shelter dog; a Papillon named Sam. It also might be what attracted him to girlfriend Selena Gomez who has five rescue dogs.
Both Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez both go out of their way to support homeless dogs, with Selena helping homeless dogs in Puerto Rico, and Justin’s recent involvement with peta2.

It’s no secret that Selena Gomez has a soft spot in her heart for the homeless dogs in Puerto Rico. She’s seen above with “George” at Los Machos Beach in Puerto Rico.
 It must be catching because Taylor Swift is joining in on the fun, and that’s what we call “a GOOD thing”!
The two lovely ladies are among several celebs (others involved include Tori Spelling and Bindi Irwin)  who are helping Island Dog, Inc. raise awareness and money to support feeding and medicating dogs living on the beaches throughout Puerto Rico, a spay and neuter program, provide rescue and rehab for abused and adoptable dogs, and advocate shelter animals and eliminate puppy mills (whew!);    by lending their names and items to a charity auction online from March 17, 2009 through March 31, 2009.
