Martha Stewart Loses Paw Paw After Twelve Years

Awwwwwwwww so sad, first Oprah’s Sophie passed away and now Martha Stewart has announced on her official blog that her dog, Paw Paw has passed away this past Saturday. He was twelve years old and had fallen ill recently.
Here is what she wrote:
As many of you know, my beloved dog, Kublai Khan Paw Paw Chow Chow Chow, was not feeling well in recent weeks and I am very heart-broken to announce his passing last Saturday, April 12, 2008 as he was approaching his 13th year. Paw Paw was a spectacular chow and an even more spectacular dog. He was always my loyal companion, displaying the most agreeable temperament. Paw Paw loved traveling with me and was always a willing model for the camera. In addition to taking part in television commercials and several national print ads, he has been part of numerous photo shoots and is a familiar face on my television show, in my magazine, and on this blog. Paw Paw’s veterinarians, Dr. Thomas Marsh of Fairfield, CT and Dr. Marty Goldstein of South Salem, NY also admired his easy-going nature, and caring for him was never a chore. Even in his final days, Paw Paw just stopped eating and drifted off to deep sleeps, where he now rests peacefully, and, I’m most confident, quite happily. I will miss him, always.
She has lots of adorable photos of Paw Paw as well as Sharkey and Francesca who even paid their last respects to their dog-brother before being laid to rest. View her blog HERE.
Our hearts go out to Martha and to her entire family, the furry and the human.
Australian Celebrity Todd McKenney Loses Neighbor’s Dog
There’s a dog on the loose and celebrity breakfast radio announcer and Australia’s version of Dancing With The Stars judge Todd McKenney is offering a thousand dollar reward for anyone who can find it. McKenney was dog-sitting Benji while his neighbor went on vacation and now Benji is gone.
Whoops! Not good!
According to McKenney, his dog walker took Benji out with his own two dogs to the park. Two kids came up to the dogs, and Benji slipped off his collar and ran away.
The radio host spent yesterday knocking on his neighbor’s doors and notified the RSPCA, local council rangers and veterinary hospitals.
I am a responsible dog owner and I wouldn’t have agreed to take care of her dog if I wasn’t one. My neighbor returns tomorrow, and the last thing she needs is stress like this. Benji won’t know where he is. He has no street sense or street manners at all. He’s timid, likes kids, and is a loving dog.”
I’m not sure how many Australian readers we have but for FYI purposes, anyone who finds the dog will be rewarded $1,000 for Benji’s return. If you have any information, contact Mix Mornings with Sonia Kruger & Todd McKenney, Executive Producer Brenden Wood, on 0417 407 851.

Oprah’s First Dog, Sophie, Dies

A spokeswoman for Oprah Winfrey confirmed Wednesday that the TV titan’s venerable cocker spaniel, Sophie — arguably first among equals of Oprah’s pet “children” — had passed away on Monday.
Another source at Harpo added, “everyone here is really sad…Sophie was truly part of the Harpo family — as well as Oprah’s.”
Sophie had been experiencing kidney failure recently and even though Sophie was well into her “old age” at 13 which was most likely a contributing factor, we’re sure this comes as a hard blow especially with Oprah’s dog, Gracie passing away last year.
RIP Sophie!
Minnie Driver Helps with Hambone Search

The Riches actress, Minnie Driver and Last Chance for Animals President Chris DeRose spoke on Thursday March 20th at a press conference to help locate an animal predator. Driver brought her dog, Bubba with her.
On February 11, “Hambone,” a gentle, submissive pit bull mix, was stolen from outside the 7-11 store at the corner of Cahuenga and Yucca in Hollywood, California. He was stolen by two men driving a faded green work van with “W2″ painted in big black letters on the driver’s side. Others in the area have reported lost or stolen dogs as well. People have been asked to come forward if they have seen this van; a $10,000 reward is being offered for the safe return of Hambone.
Pet guardians need to be aware of this animal predator and that their dog could be next. Each year, thousands of pets are stolen in the Los Angeles area. This is an “Amber Alert” for dogs and their guardians.

Kimora Lee Simmons Mourns Zoe

During Wednesday’s launch of her new fragrance, Fabulosity, it was a rare light-hearted moment for Kimora Lee Simmons, who was mourning the recent death of her 18-year-old dog, Zoe. She took to the podium at the press junket behind schedule not looking like herself and explained the delay due to a death in the family.
She shared with People magazine:
“You have to … grieve,” she said. “It’s okay to take time and say this meant something to my life and [to] honor it.”
In fact, in typical Kimora style, she may find a way to honor Zoe with bling.
“There is a company that makes diamonds out of your loved ones,” she said. “[They] make diamonds from a little of the carbon from the ash, so I might do that. I might turn her into a diamond.”
