Although there is no talk of Country Music star Miranda Lambert and new husband Blake Shelton expecting a baby, the two were happy to welcome dog #8 last week.

The lucky stray purebred bloodhound apparently walked onto the couple’s Oklahoma property and was snatched up by Miranda to join her 7 other rescue dogs. “Full blooded 7 month old blood hound. Ophelia is what I named her. Lord not another one … “ she tweeted to her fans.

Although “Ophelia” is also a tragic character in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the name is derived from the Greek word for “help,” and it looks like the hungry stray may have gotten just that from Miranda and Blake.

In an update on Monday, she tweeted, “Vet said she is all good and pretty healthy for a stray. Awww!” She also shared the photo above with the caption, “Someone who likes to give hugs.”

Good luck, Miranda! Hope this puppy is your good luck charm at the Grammys.

Miranda Lambert's dogs in her wedding

Miranda Lambert Says, “I do… love my dogs” – Country sensation Miranda Lambert’s  dogs recently took part in her Texas wedding to Blake Shelton, and got walked down the aisle with her bridesmaids.

According to Miranda’s publicist, even the location of the wedding was picked with her three dogs in mind. (not sure if the dogs weighed in on Miranda’s choice to serve venison at the wedding reception)

While the couple has seven adopted dogs, they only included three in the ceremony. (Cher the Chihuahua, Delta, a Chihuahua-Pug mix, and Delilah, a terrier mix all took part, while Jessi, Waylon, Black Betty, and Virginia Bluebell passed on the event.) Miranda says that Cher, once abandoned in a dumpster, is her lucky charm.

Miranda has been rescuing stray animals since she was three years old, and now leads the Miranda’s Muttnation Foundation; a non profit that raises money to build animal shelters, spread adoption awareness, and encourages the training of shelter dogs for therapy programs.

Miranda’s recent 4th Annual Cause for the Paws event raised money for her foundation, raising nearly $300k – a huge success, and nearly as much as the three previous Cause for Paws events combined!
