Martha Stewart Loses Paw Paw After Twelve Years

    Martha Stewart and Paw Paw

Paw Paw being laid to rest

Awwwwwwwww so sad, first Oprah’s Sophie passed away and now Martha Stewart has announced on her official blog that her dog, Paw Paw has passed away this past Saturday. He was twelve years old and had fallen ill recently.

    Here is what she wrote:

As many of you know, my beloved dog, Kublai Khan Paw Paw Chow Chow Chow, was not feeling well in recent weeks and I am very heart-broken to announce his passing last Saturday, April 12, 2008 as he was approaching his 13th year. Paw Paw was a spectacular chow and an even more spectacular dog. He was always my loyal companion, displaying the most agreeable temperament. Paw Paw loved traveling with me and was always a willing model for the camera. In addition to taking part in television commercials and several national print ads, he has been part of numerous photo shoots and is a familiar face on my television show, in my magazine, and on this blog. Paw Paw’s veterinarians, Dr. Thomas Marsh of Fairfield, CT and Dr. Marty Goldstein of South Salem, NY also admired his easy-going nature, and caring for him was never a chore. Even in his final days, Paw Paw just stopped eating and drifted off to deep sleeps, where he now rests peacefully, and, I’m most confident, quite happily. I will miss him, always.

She has lots of adorable photos of Paw Paw as well as Sharkey and Francesca who even paid their last respects to their dog-brother before being laid to rest. View her blog HERE.

Our hearts go out to Martha and to her entire family, the furry and the human.

    Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart is on the cover of The New York Dog beauty issue with her three dogs, Paw Paw, her 11-year-old male Chow Chow, Francesca, her two-year-old French Bulldog and Sharkey, another two-year-old Frenchie.

Martha said the following about how her dogs inspire her:

They are funny, active and interesting creatures. They make me think about nature and the animal kingdom in different ways.”

Martha Stewart Lives in a Dog House

Martha Stewart, the inspiration for Jennifer Garner’s own canine, is pictured with with two of her six dogs. She has four Chows, Chin Chin, Empress Wu, Paw Paw, and Zu Zu and two French Bulldogs, Francesca and Sharky.

That’s a lot of paws running around under one roof and I bet Martha has all the tricks to keeping her house fur-free.
