Bark at the Ballpark!
For all of you Kansas City Royals baseball fans, this sounds like a BLAST!
Sunday, September 27, the Royals will be hosting the first annual “Bark at the K” , which is an opportunity for Royals fans and dog lovers to enjoy a game with their canine companion while supporting 3 local charities!
HOW FUN is that? The All-American pastime and your best friend out in the fresh air, along with lots of other dog lovers and their buddies? AWESOME!
Each ticket package will include a ticket for human and their canine; a Royals dog bowl and donation to the Greater Kansas City Humane Society, the HalfWay Home Pet Adoptions, and Wayside Waifs; who will also be offering pet adoptions at the event. Additional human tickets may also be purchased for a discounted price!
A dog park will be set up and a “clean up crew” will be on hand to clean up after the pets. A limited number of packages are available so get your tickets ASAP!
What a GREAT idea for us dog lovers and a great opportunity for homeless animals to benefit! Two paws up!

Celebs Come Out for Broadway Barks!
Hosted by luminaries like Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, co-creators of the event; the 11th annual “Broadway Barks” citywide adoptathon took place in Shubert Alley in NYC July 11, 2009!
The star-studded event benefits NYC animal shelters and animal adoption agencies and helps many of the NYC shelter animals find permanent homes and is sponsored by the ASPCA and Pedigree Pet Foods. There was a book-signing by Bernadette and celebrity presentation of adoptable pets, seen below.
Bernadette Peters, who adopted her dogs, Kramer and Stella, from the ASPCA and the AC&C added, “We’re doing our part to make New York City a more humane place for animals. Through our collaborative efforts, of which Broadway Barks is a part, we’re moving steadily toward our goal of ensuring that every healthy and treatable dog and cat in New York City has a home.”
From 2002 to 2008 the number of animals being euthanized in NYC shelters went down from 74% to 39%, which equates to approximately 15,000 LESS animals put to sleep! That’s HUGE!
Good on you, Bernadette and MTM! You and all the other celebs using their fame to such a great cause!
Ashanti To The Rescue!
Singer/songwriter Ashanti and Cairn Terrier “Nigel” hosted the “There’s No Place Like Home” dog adoption event at the New York Center in NYC May 30, 2009!
Ashanti also posed with one of the dogs for adoption, precious little “Willis”. Awww, I hope he got a great home!
Twenty-month-old Nigel was spotted by an animal trainer on the Humane Society website and after speaking to shelter personnel, he knew that Nigel had star potential!
Ashanti will be starring as Dorothy and Nigel as (who ELSE?) Toto in the summer production of “The Wiz” which runs from June 12 through July 5, 2009 at the New York Center!
Celebs Hit the Buffet!
Celebs checked out the “must-have” luxury products for kids and their 4 legged babies at the Mother’s Day Silver Spoon Dog and Baby Buffet held May 9, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City CA.
The Buffet/Shopping extravaganza is eagerly looked forward to by the celebs and is sponsored by The Silver Spoon entertainment marketing group. Proceeds from the event go partially to the Amanda Foundation, a non-profit LA-based pet rescue organization, which had members present finding forever homes for some special pets in need!
Above, Tara Reid with her new puppy (this isn’t her Yorkie, Stoli!) and Beverly Mitchell with her chihuahua, Chico shop! Jai Rodriquez was there and it looks like little fashion plate Nemo will be getting a new pair of undies, LOL!

Cesar Millan Does More Than Whisper to Dogs!
Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer, attended the North Shore Animal League 15th annual American Global Adoption Extravaganza in Port Washington, New York May 2, 2009, where he was the spokesperson for the event to help save homeless pets!
2000 animal shelters worldwide participated in the 36 hour event, opening their doors at 9 A.M. in all time zones on Saturday May 2, which was sponsored by Nestle PurinaPetCare Company’s One Hope Network.
Millan has created “Sessions with Cesar”, an online training course for dog owners. He has recently partnered with North Shore Animal League to help adopters by making “Sessions with Cesar” available through the Animal League website, HERE. Not only will subscribers receive a discount, but proceeds will also benefit the Animal League, the world’s largest animal rescue and adoption organization.
