Deal or No Deal Models Say NO DEAL to Puppy Mills

    Katie Cleary

Katie Cleary, model #11 and other models from the hit NBC television show Deal or No Deal are coming out to Beverly Hills on Saturday to encourage puppy store customers to “ADOPT - DON’T SHOP” and to speak out against the animal cruelty behind that cute little puppy in the window. Joined by Last Chance for Animals (LCA), Best Friends Animal Society and local rescue groups will spread the message that puppy stores and the puppy mills that supply them are no deal for dogs or consumers!

97% of all dogs in pet stores come from puppy mills. Puppy mills are breeding facilities that mass-produce puppies for sale. These facilities are notorious for their filthy, overcrowded conditions, and the minimal amount of time and money spent on meeting the animals’ basic needs to maximize profits. LCA’s undercover investigations time and again have exposed the brutality of these puppy mills.
Chris DeRose, LCA President, released the following statement:

The inbreeding prevalent in puppy mills produces animals with genetic diseases and abnormalities. Once an animal is purchased the consumer is faced with hefty vet fees for their sick puppy. It is extremely important for Americans to know what the cute puppy in the pet shop has endured to be sold. There are so many adoptable and wonderful pets at shelters and rescues throughout the country. The purchase of a puppy through a pet store is simply irresponsible. If someone wants a specific breed or a young dog, they’re all available without going to a pet store.”

Thanks Kate (not Walsh) for sending us the info!

Nicollette Sheridan Says - ‘Save Your Pet’

Last Chance for Animals (LCA), a national, nonprofit animal protection organization, invites you to participate in a national campaign aimed at raising public awareness of a threatening epidemic: pet theft.

Nearly two million companion animals are stolen each year. Some are taken under false pretense through “free to a good home” ads, abducted from their yards, or are taken from humane shelters through a practice called pound seizure. These animals are then sold to research laboratories, dog-fighting rings, or puppy mills, where they are abused and often killed.

On February 14th of every year, LCA educates the public with the help of animal organizations throughout the United States. Your participation can make all the difference. By working together, we can educate the public about the problem of pet theft, memorialize the nearly 2 million animals taken each year, and educate citizens on how they can protect their companion animals. Join our nationwide network of organizations and individuals in this important crusade.
