Hannah Montana child actress Emily Grace Reeves and her adorable pup Bunny showed up at the Teen Choice Awards Gifting Sweet in Hollywood, CA where she and BFF Noah Cyrus had wax molds made of their hands which will be auctioned off at a later date.

Many stars are participating in an event to help raise awareness about a little-known animal shelter disaster hitting the U.S. due to the economic crisis. CA Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, because of the CA budget crisis, has recently ended a  state mandate to hold stray animals in the shelters for 6 days, resulting in more euthanasias; some as soon as only 3 days!

There will be dozens of pets up for adoption from Tails of The City Animal Rescue at the event and celebrity guests will take their pictures with the pets to increase their chances for adoption. Rocket Dog, Tivo and Jet Blue are donating shoes, Tivos signed by celebrities and airline tickets for auction with the proceeds going to Tails of The City. Hence, the “gifting” back to the stars!

Somebody looks like they’ve been playing “hairdresser”! I think Bunny looks super-cute with pink ears though!

Hosted by luminaries like Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, co-creators of the event; the  11th annual “Broadway Barks” citywide adoptathon took place in Shubert Alley in NYC July 11, 2009!

The star-studded event benefits NYC animal shelters and animal adoption agencies and helps many of the NYC shelter animals find permanent homes and is sponsored by the ASPCA and Pedigree Pet Foods. There was a book-signing by Bernadette and celebrity presentation of adoptable pets, seen below.

Bernadette Peters, who adopted her dogs, Kramer and Stella, from the ASPCA and the AC&C added, “We’re doing our part to make New York City a more humane place for animals. Through our collaborative efforts, of which Broadway Barks is a part, we’re moving steadily toward our goal of ensuring that every healthy and treatable dog and cat in New York City has a home.”

From 2002 to 2008 the number of animals being euthanized in NYC shelters went down from 74% to 39%, which equates to approximately 15,000 LESS animals put to sleep! That’s HUGE!

Good on you, Bernadette and MTM! You and all the other celebs using their fame to such a great cause!

The “O C ” actress Mischa Barton attended the official  opening of the summer sale at the luxury department store, Harrods in London June 27, 2009 in the Pet Department! 

She’s seen cuddling a pair of Dachshund puppies here.

She apparently is perpetuating a Harrod’s tradition of the owner of the store, Mohammed Al Fayed  placing a puppy on her head  in lieu of a crown. We can only assume this is the case,  since it looks like this tradtion dates back at least to 2007 when Sara Michelle Gellar got the same royal treatment (see below). He was probably scared to put a puppy on Kim Catrall’s head in 2008.

I can’t comment on the selling of puppies in a department store, other than to say it seems odd.

Oh, those crazy luxury department store owners sure know how to have fun, don’t they?

Beth Ostrosky Stern hosted a luncheon at Savannah’s in Southampton to launch Joseph Janus’ BODHI bags’ limited edition Animal-Friendly collection.

All profits from the sale of the clutches, totes, hobos, dog carriers and more will benefit Stern’s favorite charity, the North Shore Animal League (which should be substantial, considering the price tag on these babies!). 

NSAL was on hand at Savannah’s with puppies available for adoption, who posed with Real Housewife of NYC, Bethenny Frankel and the designer Joseph Janus.

Beth and husband Howard’s dog Bianca was the star attraction at the luncheon that included guests Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Bensimon, who attended with her daughters and their two dogs. Bensimon left as soon as Bethenny arrived. 

Southampton just isn’t big enough for the two of them!
