Susan Rosetti: Nasir from the ‘Dog Whisperer’ is Alive and Well

    Nasir

    Nasir

Many of you have emailed us at CDW and/or left comments about your concern for Nasir, the gorgeous boerboel that Patti LaBelle needed help with that was featured on an episode of Cesar Milan’s show, The Dog Whisperer.

Nasir pulled at so many heart strings and the question of how he was doing was often on all of our minds.

Thanks to Jen, a CDW reader, the six degrees of separation was narrowed and we received an email from Susan including many pictures to share of Nasir and all of her dogs.

Here’s the email she sent word for word:

    Hi Kym!
My friend Jen (who is a frequent visitor to your site) has informed me that your readers are expressing concerns of our dog Nasir’s (the boerboel from the king kong/Patti Labelle episode of The Dog Whisperer)well being. I always get a warm feeling in my heart when I hear people are concerned and actively investigating any type of injustice done to any animal. However, despite the rumors, I would like to assure your readers that Nasir is doing wonderfully. We have had some bumps in the road, for Nasir is a very powerful dog with many issues, but with the continuous help of Cesar Milan (who we cannot thank enough) and hard work that Bobby, myself and our family and friends put in everyday, Nasir is adjusting nicely to his new environment and pack. We love our dogs very much and spend much time each day with them to make sure that they are mentally and physically stimulated and balanced. We have e-mailed you a bunch of pictures for your readers to view so that they can put their hearts and minds at ease and see for themselves that Nasir is alive, healthy, happy and enjoying his life with his new family.
    Thank you, Susan Rosetti

Nasir looks well taken care of and very loved (as do all her dogs) as evident by even more photos below - we hope you enjoy them and we thank Susan for taking her time to send an update for everyone!

Producer Settles Lawsuit against ‘Dog Whisperer’

    Cesar Millan

A television producer who sued the man known as the “Dog Whisperer” because his dog “collapsed” while on a treadmill settled his lawsuit, a court official said Friday.

Flody Suarez alleged his pet Labrador was injured during a workout at Cesar Millan’s training facility on Feb. 27, 2006.

Suarez took his 5-year-old dog, Gator, to Millan’s “Dog Psychology Center of Los Angeles” so the animal could be socialized with other dogs and overcome his fear of strangers, the lawsuit stated.

The lawsuit stated that while at the facility, staff put a choke chain around Gator’s neck and for the first time in his life he was put on a treadmill, where he “collapsed” after being overworked.

As a result, Gator had to undergo several surgeries and was fed with a tube for several weeks, the lawsuit stated.

Suarez sued Millan last May 4, alleging breach of contract, negligence, fraud and deceit, and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

Millan claimed that Suarez’s personal dog trainer was with Gator the entire time the Labrador was at the Dog Psychology Center and that he allowed the trainer to bring Gator to the center as a favor and did not charge for use of the facilities.

The settlement notice was filed March 29 with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kenneth Freeman, prompting cancellation of Friday’s scheduled motions hearing.

    Dog Whisperer Visits Ghost Whisperer

    Cesar Millan

World-renowned Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan guest stars as himself on an upcoming episode of Ghost Whisperer, to be broadcast Friday, March 30 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

When Homer the Ghost Dog returns to Grandview, he walks back into Melinda’s (Jennifer Love Hewitt) life by spooking Delia’s (Camryn Manheim) normally calm golden retriever, Bob. Worried about Bob’s recent change in behavior, Delia visits a local Grandview book signing with Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan. Melinda joins Delia at the signing to see if Cesar can offer guidance on how to cross Homer into the light.

LA Councilman Wants Help from Millan

    Cesar Millan

Los Angeles city councilman, Tony Cardenas, wants Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan to work with him on a youth program on how to treat animals with respect.

Millan recently was honored before a council session for his work with people and their problem pets. Millan has his own television show on the National Geographic Channel, a best-seller, and was profiled in the New Yorker. His Dog Psychology Center in South Los Angeles has become so popular that he needs to expand, the Los Angeles Times said.

No one really knows how serious the animal cruelty problem is in Los Angeles, because for years records weren’t kept, the official said. Shortly after taking office in 2003, Tony Cardenas — who wants to enlist Millan in his latest project — learned that major cruelty cases were not often pursued as felonies. He introduced legislation that created city’s Animal Cruelty Task Force which chalked up nine felony convictions since fall 2005, with several defendants doing prison time.
