Marco Lalau is the 6th groomer to be clipped from Season Two of Groomer Has It.
Marco combined his business acumen with his love of pets and together with his brother Marcelo, founded Bubbles Pet Spas located in Manhattan Beach, CA and Torrance, CA with their third endeavor opening in Palos Verdes, CA in June! Marco’s beloved German Shepherd, Kona pictured with Marco above, was the inspiration for these ventures and holds the position of Chairman and CEO! He must be doing something right, because Bubbles Pet Spa was named the Best Pet Grooming by My Fox LA for 2007 and 2008!
Marco was kind enough to answer our questions about his experience on Groomer Has It:
CDW: Marco, you and Lisa did such a great job on the potbellied pigs; had you had any experience with pigs before and did you enjoy it?
Marco: I have never groomed a pig, much less know what goes into grooming a pig. Thanks to Lisa, who had groomed a pig before, we were able to deliver in this challenge. I had a lot of fun until our pig decided to go on a rampage and spill our precious buckets of water.
CDW: Were you at all surprised that Cassandra and Vanessa “threw you under the bus” in your second to last challenge, or did you pretty much figure they’d do that?
Marco: Yes, I was very suprised, considering I had helped them finish their dogs. I thought they were going to choose Jessica since she had changed the length of her dog halfway through the challenge and put us all behind. I was diappointed in their decision to pick me, but I accepted all their apologies and moved on.
CDW: If they hadn’t done that, might you have chosen anyone else besides Cassandra to deduct the 15 minutes from for the grooming challenge?
Marco: No, 15 minutes would not have affected the other groomers as much as it affected Cassandra. She really got shook up by the disadvantage and that was my strategy.
CDW: Who did you feel was your toughest all-around competitor and why?
Marco: Lisa, Lisa and Lisa! In the grooming world, she’s MVP and has the most talent of anyone in the house followed by Huber.
CDW: Do you feel if the challenges had been less about teamwork and more about individual grooming ability that you might have remained longer?
Marco: I don’t think it would have mattered. I thrive on teamwork. As the boss of Bubbles Pet Spa, I work in teams everyday to get the daily work done.
CDW: Which challenge was your favorite and which was your least favorite?
Marco: I enoyed the creative challenge in the first episode working with Standard Poodles. I hated making my fat dog look skinny in the 6th episode. Not only was it hard for me, I got eliminated during that challenge.
CDW: Do you think Lisa’s comment about Xavier during your kickboxing session will come back to haunt her?
Marco: Possibly, it seems like Xavier doesn’t like Lisa personally, but always ends up complimenting her work. Maybe it’s a love-hate relationship between the two.
Marco, Celebrity Dog Watcher thanks you for your time answering these questions. Congratulations for hanging in this tough competition for so long, and all the very best success to you, your brother and Kona with Bubbles Pet Spas!
