    This just in from People.com…

Pets of Bel Air, a high-end store frequented by celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, was closed down Tuesday by Los Angeles officials for operating without a license.

Ed Boks, general manager of Los Angeles Animal Services, said, “We did shut [Pets of Bel Air] down and they have 48 hours to bring their permits into compliance.”

The store has been a target of The Humane Society of the United States, which alleges Pets of Bel Air gets dogs from puppy mills in the Midwest. The Humane Society says it found the store had been operating without a license for three years.

The store is known for its high-profile clientele. Last summer, Spears bought a yorkie there and two weeks later Hilton purchased a Chihuahua.

Celebrity Dog Watcher also believes this is the same pet store, Katharine McPhee purchased Larry from.

Pets of Bel Air could not be reached for comment.

This is great! Now if they could only keep people like Paris and Britney Spears from adopting puppies. What happened to her Yorkie, anyway?

I’m glad! Pet stores that sell dogs need to be shut down! I still can’t believe how many are still out there!!!
