Retired French actress Brigitte Bardot, a long-time advocate of animals rights, has added a new campaign to her list.
After a toddler was attacked by a pitbull in a public park, Geneva lawmakers drafted new regulations requiring all dog owners to muzzle their pets.
Upon hearing of the new law, Bardot made her thoughts very clear on the matter. In a letter to Tribune de Genève newspaper, Bardot writes,
I don’t think a Yorkshire terrier or a lapdog constitute any great danger to the population. Unfortunately, it’s always the dogs paying the price for their masters’ ignorance, irresponsibility and bad behavior.”
The law was enacted Monday, August 21 2006. If dog owners ignore the law, they will pay the price in fines.
