Miss Manners is ready to take off her white gloves and rumble with New York socialite Charlotte Reed. The syndicated doyenne of etiquette, whose real name is Judith Martin, fired off a letter to Reed accusing her of trademark infringement with the title of her new book, Miss Fido Manners: Complete Book of Dog Etiquette.

Martin’s literary agent, David Hendin revealed to Page Six, “But there won’t be a lawsuit. The publisher has agreed [that] if they reprint the book, they will change the title. We are just protecting the trademark.”

He noted that years ago he forced porn star Missy Manners to stop using that name.

Huh. I guess we’re not that into porn, we hadn’t heard of Missy Manners but we imagine her manners couldn’t have been that prissy in her line of work.

Back on the dog front, we contacted the pet guru, Charlotte Reed herself for a quote (it helps to have contacts in this business and it happened to help little ole’ us a whole lot since we’re one of the book’s sponsors) and she said:

Just goes to show you that two proper gals can settle a dispute without a catfight. Of course, legal representation always helps.

    Amen to that!
