Victoria Beckham is urging husband David to get rid of his two pet rottweiler guard dogs.

Posh, 32, has become worried for the safety of their sons Brooklyn, seven, four-year-old Romeo and 23-month-old Cruz amid a spate of dog attacks on children.

But the former England captain believes his “little fellas” - who guard the grounds of the family’s home in Sawbridgeworth, Herts - are protecting the family.

A source said: “Victoria has always been a bit wary of the dogs, but since there have been a series of attacks on children by dogs recently, she has become more concerned.

“She has told David he should find a new home for the dogs.”

Becks, 31, bought his first two rottweilers - Snoop and Puff, named after rap stars - eight years ago, shortly after he and Victoria started dating.

Puff died in 2005 but the star soon bought a new rottweiler to replace him.

The family friend said: “When they bought the first two dogs, people thought David and Victoria had got matching dogs for each other, but it was David who wanted them.

“They are primarily guard dogs, not family pets. Even so, Victoria has become really worried.”

“David’s not backing down at the moment,” said a source. “He says they are loving and affectionate to their family and are perfect guard dogs.

“He considers them real members of the family and is standing up to his wife on this one. He doesn’t believe there is any danger.”

The friend continued: “Victoria is not really an animal person. But if push comes to shove, her choice would have been a dog like a chihuahua.

“But David always insisted on the rotties because they were ‘manly’.”

The source added: “The dogs have their own quarters at Beckingham Palace, a huge play pen - and round-the-clock minders.”
